AEHT
European Association of Hotel and Tourism Schools (AEHT) is an International Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) with consultative status from the Council of Europe. I first encountered AEHT in 2010 at a competition in Lisbon, Portugal, which marked the beginning of a fruitful relationship. Since then, I have participated in numerous AEHT competitions and conferences and had the honor of hosting some as well.
Mission and Objectives
AEHT aims to foster a European perspective among Hotel and Tourism Schools. Its core objectives include:
-
Linking Institutions: Acting as a bridge between European Hotel and Tourism Schools to promote collaboration and mutual growth.
-
Promoting Hospitality Education: Enhancing hospitality education within member countries and beyond.
-
Facilitating Exchanges: Encouraging the exchange of students and teachers to share knowledge and cultural experiences.
-
Building School-Business Connections: Establishing strong connections between educational institutions and the hospitality industry.
-
Innovative Teaching: Developing and sharing innovative teaching methods and materials.
History
Founded in 1988 by Jean-Paul Bernard and Martin Bruder of the Strasbourg-Illkirch Hotel and Tourism School in France, AEHT started with 24 schools from 16 European countries. Today, it has grown to include around 400 member schools with representatives in 40 European countries.
